We believe…
there is a God — one God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 45:18-19 • Isaiah 45:22 • Matthew 28:19-20 • 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe…
he created us and gave us life for a purpose. We are here to share his love and life with his world.
Genesis 1-2 • Matthew 28:19-20 • Isaiah 43:1 • Ephesians 2:10 • John 13:34 • Romans 12:6-8
We believe…
we are responsible and accountable to God for the way we fall short of his purpose for our lives.
Psalms 51:1-5
We believe…
God gave his Son, Jesus, to be responsible and accountable in our place. By his perfect life, Jesus met our responsibility before God. By his innocent death on the cross, Jesus was held accountable and paid for our guilt before God.
John 3:16 • Romans 5:19 • Romans 4:24
We believe…
God sees us right by him and right for life with him, through faith in Jesus.
Romans 5:1-2 • John 3:16 • Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe…
the Spirit of Christ lives in us empowering us for the challenges we face and the opportunities God gives us.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 • Romans 12:1-8
We believe…
the Spirit of Christ is connecting us with God and with each other to be… “a Family Connecting in Christ.”
1 Corinthians 12:3 • Galatians 3:26-27

Serving as the pastor of St. John Lutheran Church is a truly wonderful privilege. Every day, I have the joy of pointing people—whether they are hurting, struggling, questioning, or just looking for hope—straight to Jesus. It’s an honor to share His forgiveness, help others grow in God’s promises, and discover together how His grace changes our everyday lives.
Here at St. John, God has blessed me with an incredible church and school family. This is a community that deeply cares about Jesus, His people, and the world around us, and we are passionate about sharing God’s love in everything we do.
My journey here began in 2000, following my time serving a dual-parish in Fort Morgan and Hillrose, Colorado. Whether out west in laid-back ranch country or here in the fast-paced energy of suburbia, I’ve found that the most important truth remains the same: we are at our best when we are connected to Christ.
Home for me is right here in Grayslake with my wonderful wife, Lisa. She shares a heart for service, both at church helping us build closer connections and in our community as a mental health counselor. Whenever our schedules allow, we love to travel together and marvel at the beauty of God’s creation.
“Being the pastor of St. John Lutheran Church is an awesome privilege.“
